Get Involved in the Neighorhood

Join the LPCA!

The LeDroit Park Civic Association (LPCA) is the recognized civic association for our neighborhood and is a forum for the community to provide input on neighborhood issues & activities including public safety, zoning & development, and public engagement. The LPCA aims to serve the neighbors of LeDroit Park through community events, organizing around community issues, and engaging with our local representatives.

LeDroit Park residents, community businesses, corporations and interested sponsors are all welcome to join the LPCA! ​

LPCA Meetings

Join us at our next LPCA meeting! Monthly LeDroit Park Civic Association meetings are a time for members to come together, socialize, and discuss issues important to the neighborhood. Guest speakers are often present to talk about topics of special concern.

​

While these meetings are open to the public, only Civic Association members in good standing are able to vote on agenda items.

 

When

The 4th Tuesday of every month (except July and December) at 7:00 p.m.

 

Where

Meetings are held virtually & occasionally in person at St. George's Episcopal Church on the corner of 2nd & U streets. Agendas & call-in info are sent out via the listserv.

Volunteer Opportunities & Neighborhood Groups

Here are some of the groups currently active in our community.

Help Needed! LPCA Volunteer Positions​

Block Captains: Engages with their blocks to promote the LPCA, help with community groups & projects, and get neighbors plugged into our communication channels.

Public Safety Chair: Works closely with MPD to follow up on neighborhood safety concerns and coordinate safety walks and events.

​

Local Business Liaison: Works with local businesses in LeDroit Park, Shaw, & Bloomingdale to raise support for neighborhood events and promote local business

Community Events Committee

The LPCA Community Events Committee organizes social events that give the neighbors of LeDroit Park opportunities to mingle, get to know each other, and have fun. Events planned for 2025 include a Summer Games Day at the Park at LeDroit, the Ledroit Park block party, our annual holiday event, and possibly more!

Green Spaces Committee

The Green Spaces Committee coordinates neighborhood efforts to beautify and green-up our streets by working city agencies (DDOT and DPR) on tasks like planting & watering trees, maintaining our public green spaces like the Anna J. Cooper Circle and the LeDroit Park Arch space, and also leading efforts to bring art to the neighborhood!

LeDroit Park has several neighborhood group chats covering neighborhood safety and community updates plus smaller block-wide group chats. Check with your nearest block captain or reach out to lpca@ledroitpark.org to get access.

 

We encourage you to join and invite your neighbors too!​​

The LPCA has a one-way SMS service to share important and time sensitive info. It's currently available only to LPCA members. If you'd like to be added, please reach out to lpca@ledroitpark.org for more info!
